Paul Richard Kauffman, 90, of Wooster and formerly of Creston, died on Tuesday, July 8, 2025 at Wooster Community Hospital.
He was born February 14, 1935 in Wooster to Russell and Emma G. Meyer Kauffman. In September of 1970, he married the love of his life and constant companion, Janet Zimmerman. She preceded him in death in 2023.
Paul served his country in the U.S. Navy.
He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from San Diego State University. Paul had worked for many years as a banker in various cities around the country. Following his retirement from the banking world, he went to work for Kidron Electric. Paul loved to mow the lawn and was proud to be able to help maintain lawns for folks who were unable to on their own. He was a furniture maker and muscle car enthusiast. Paul also loved to travel with Janet and had fond memories of their two trips to the Holy Land.
Paul and Janet were a mixed religion couple with Paul, a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and Janet who was a Methodist. Despite having two different church homes, they were both very supportive of the other’s denomination.
He is survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, great great nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife, Janet, Paul was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Cecilia Bowman, Mary Nueffer, John Kauffman, Leona Short, Victoria Kelley, Henry “Hank” Kauffman, Christine Plant, George Kauffman, Walter Kauffman and Helen Kauffman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 9:30 AM at St. Mary Catholic Church, 527 Beall Ave., Wooster with Father Stephen Moran as celebrant. Interment will follow in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
Friends will be received on Monday from 5:00-7:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.

Paul was such a nice man. I met him at the College of Wooster Lay Academy,a
along with Janet, she too was such a nice person.
Paul was a long time member of the Grange and served in many offices over the years. We will remember his dedication to the Grange, his humor, and most importantly, his Faith. Paul- I know you have “received the welcome plaudit “Well done, the good and faithful Servant” We will miss you.
