Gary Allen Fatzinger, 77, of Wooster died on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at his home.

He was born February 16, 1948 in Tiffin to Harold and Ruth Reed Fatzinger.  On June 21, 1968, he married Brenda Garrett.  She survives.

Gary had worked for many years as a service technician for United Telephone Company until his retirement from CenturyLink.  He had also been the owner and operator of Fatzinger’s SOHIO station in Sycamore for many years.  Gary enjoyed coon hunting, camping, boating and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.

He served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Jeromesville American Legion Post 749, a lifetime member of the NRA, member of the CWA Local 4474 and a former member of the Jeromesville Coon Hunters Club.

Along with his wife, Gary is survived by his sons Jody (Carol) Howard of Ft. Worth, TX, Jerome (Heidi) Fatzinger of Shreve and Jeremy (Tish) Fatzinger of Smithville; grandchildren Kaylee (Josh) Wilson, Jessica (Frank) Medina, Derek (Sarah) Jones, Madison Fatzinger, Aleigha Fatzinger, Colton Fatzinger, Brooke (Isaac) Kinney, Breanne Fatzinger and Bailey Fatzinger; great grandson Oliver Wilson; siblings Diane Morgan of Nevada, OH, Sandy Crum of Old Fort, OH and David (Darlene) Fatzinger of Tiffin; numerous nieces and nephews and his fur companion Cinnamon.

Gary was preceded in death by his parents; step mother Delores Myers Fatzinger; sister Pam Lewellen; brothers-in-law J.P. Morgan and Ron Crum.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at 4:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.

Friends will be received on Friday from 2:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be sent to Ida Sue School, 266 Oldman Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.

  1. My heart goes out to all of you. I cannot imagine the pain and heartache you’re feeling. I am praying for peace and comfort for all of you. Gary was a great man and he loved his family very much. Gary was a dear friend and will be missed by many. May he rest in peace.

  7. Gary was a mentor to me when I was a misguided teenager (most of the misguiding was led by Jeremy, but thats a different story). Gary pointed out a path that lead me to being a better person. I frequently asked him for advice even well into adulthood and I’m still reaping the rewards. He was truly a great man and I am forever grateful to call him a friend!
