Shirley Janet Hartman, 91, of Wooster died on Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Wayne Manor.

She was born September 12, 1933 in Wooster to Arthur and Gail Finley Odenkirk.  On July 31, 1953, she married Richard “Dick” Hartman.  They were married for over 70 years prior to his death in 2023.

Shirley had worked as a telephone operator and a cook at various restaurants as well as the YMCA where she cooked for service clubs.  She loved quilting, sewing, reading, cooking, baking, visiting with her neighbors, plants, flowers and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.

She is survived by her children Pamela (Frank) Meshew, Nancy (Ron) Sands, Rick (Sandy) Hartman, Tom Hartman all of Wooster; Andy (Mindy) Hartman of Apple Creek; grandchildren Matt Meshew, Bryon (Sarah) Meshew, Beth (Jason) Gerber, Todd Sands, Melanie (Jay) Mowrer, Megan (Zach) Jolly, Kyle Hartman, Ty (Tonya) Hartman, Marissa (Robbie) Wilson, and Chantel Meshew; great-grandchildren Aeron, Addyson, Izabel and Izzak Meshew, Hayden and Harper Gerber, Eliana and Alethea Sands, Madeline, Jeret and Clay Mowrer; Julia, Emma, Dani and Aria Jolly, Easton and Bostyn Hartman, Blakely and Navy Wilson; brother Richard (Ruth Ann) Odenkirk of Wooster; sisters-in-law Jo Anne Jolliff and Doris Snoddy both of Wooster.

Along with her husband, Shirley was preceded in death by an infant child, her parents and sister Sally Porter.

A private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Crossroads Hospice, 3743 Boettler Oaks Dr Ste E, Uniontown, OH 44685.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  11. To all of Hartman children, Im so sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. I remember your mom always cooking supper , there were nights i would tell my mom i wished she didnt wirk so she could the meaks your made. Such a wierd thing to think of. Prayers to you all.
