Ervin Mack Hanna, 88, of Wooster passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Smithville Western Care Center.

He was born on July 3, 1937, in Chapmanville, West Virginia to James and Inez Carpenter Hanna.  On July 17, 1993, he married Eva Lucille Wood. She survives him.

Mack proudly served his country in the United States Navy as a chief petty officer for 20 years.  He was a butcher, drove Amish, loved boating, traveling and being involved with the 555th Honors Detachment.

In addition to his wife Lucy, he is survived by his son Lee (Connie) Hanna; stepchildren Eric (Mailey) Johns, Vicky Shammo, and Cindy (Eric) Edwards; grandchildren Matthew Hanna, Jon Hanna, Stephen Shammo, Cortney Shammo, Brooke Provence, Christian Provence and Jo Jo; great grandchildren Hunter Hanna, Dawson Gray; sister Linda Nelson.

Mack was preceded in death by his parents; daughter Susie Kirksay; siblings Ethel, Thelma, Betty, Faye, Ruth Ann, Janice, Jimmy, Thurmond, Warren, Danny and Bill; special nephew Greg Butcher.

Family would like to a special thanks to the staff in Willows and Smithville Western Care Center and Wellspring Hospice nurses for their loving care.

A Service of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at 12:30PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Johnny Blevins officiating. Inurnment to follow at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  3. Oh Aunt Lucy – so sorry to hear about Uncle Mack – loved him dearly and you also. Sorry for not being closer. We were such a big family and at one time all so close. You have my deepest sympathies. Love, Cheryl Jeffrey-Allen

Lucy I didn’t no u very long.but I did with my uncle Mac.i no u both loved each other very much.but remember all the goods times that u all had together.càuse he always made people laugh…an he loved everybody.so so so sorry to hear this.uncle Mac will be missed dearly.keep ur head up.its hard I no.i just lost my 2nd mom tues.take care of ur self.love ya.kim

  8. Lucy, my heart breaks for you! The last few years were very hard as many watched him decline. I’m so glad you and I shared memories as we would visit Mack. He will be missed by so many.   9. Aunt Lucy, my heart goes out to you. You were a wonderful loyal wife to Uncle Mack and was always so concerned about him. We loved your all’s visits each time and missed them this last few years. Uncle Mack always had that big hug and kiss on the cheek for me. Jerry and I loved both of you dearly. You are welcome to visit us anytime our home is always opened to you. Praying for you and the rest.   11. Lucy, haven’t seen you and Cousin Mack in years but I wanted to let you know that I’m very happy you were Mack’s wife. I’m very sorry for the loss of your husband and he was always one of my favorite people growing up and later in life also. I remember when I was young and he came in on leave and came to see my dad I would just run to him. His beautiful memory is etched in my mind.. Loved him dearly and I have to say I loved his cooking.   12. So sorry to hear of Mack. We knew him back in the 1970’s & 1980’s. A sweet man and wonderful cook – loved his fish fry and the best homemade hushpuppies. Don’t know if Macky remembers me or not but just want to let yuo all knowhow sorry we were during this difficult time.

  18. Looked up your address to show the boys our old place on google earth and stumbled upon this sad news. Aris and I have such fond memories of you both, early parenthood in your pool and roaming the yard, mini chocolates, and your kindness. We are thinking of you and your family. ♥️
