“Together Again”

Donna Jean Keener, 88, of West Salem passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare.

She was born on April 28, 1937, in Wayne County to Rexford L. and Gladys Arnold Fasig. On October 23, 1955, she married John “Jake” Keener.  He preceded her in death on November 12, 2016.

Donna was a 1955 graduate of Northwestern High School. She was a teacher at Chester Elementary in the Northwestern School District for 27 years.  She loved watching the Cleveland Guardians and Ohio State Buckeyes.  Donna enjoyed swimming with her swim group, playing scrabble and cards, and spending time with her family and loved her “sibling days”. She always loved attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events.

She is survived by her children Bradley (Paula) Keener of Waterville, Bruce (Deanna) Keener of West Salem, Brett (Kathy) Keener of Wooster, and Elizabeth (Matthew) Hostettler of Wooster; grandchildren Tyler (Kassie) Keener, Travis (Shawna) Keener, Troy (Morgan) Keener, Ruth Ann Keener, Paul (Shyann Kick) Keener, Kirt (Julie) Keener, Kelly (Todd) Roberts, Emily (Scott) Koch, Mallory (Brett) Imhoff, Brent (Emily) Hostettler and Madalyn (Caleb) Schmucker; thirty-five great grandchildren; siblings Eloise Rice of Wooster, Donald Fasig of Wooster, Leatha Franta of Lexington, Ohio, Ronald Fasig of Wooster and Barbara Fasig of Urbanna, Virginia.

In addition to her husband John, she was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Patricia Oberholtzer.

A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 9451 Ashland Rd., Wooster with Pastor Stephanie Woods officiating.  Interment will follow at New Pittsburg Cemetery.

Friends will be received two hours prior to the service at the church.

  4. I am so sorry for your family’s loss.
    I was fortunate to see Donna recently and enjoyed our conversation. She has always been so kind, friendly and chatty with me. The laughs we shared recently were so enjoyable. What a wonderful woman and thankful I was able to visit with her recently.
