Ted James Madigan passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, in Edgewater, Florida, surrounded by his three daughters and his partner, Joyce. He was born on December 6, 1947, in Wadsworth, Ohio, to Edward and Margaret (Kelly) Madigan.

Ted is survived by his partner, Joyce; his three daughters, Cassie (Tracy) Chance; Becky (Dan) Frybarger; and Amanda; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by his loving siblings John, William, Margaret Ann (Peggy), Lynn and Nell Madigan. He was blessed with a large, beautiful family with many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Tom and his lifelong friend Barry Kiemer.

Ted graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1965, later attending Kent State University and the College of William and Mary. He was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict, serving as a medic for two years at Fort Bliss, El Paso, Texas. He was a gifted carpenter who built many beautiful homes in Wadsworth with his family at Madigan Construction. With his great wit, fantastic sense of humor, and brilliant mind he brought much joy into the world. He loved cars and motorcycles. He was an aficionado of classic movies and music.

Ted was a member of AmVets Post 2 and the Dolphin Athletic Club in Edgewater, Florida. He will be laid to rest at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery on September 23 at 10 a.m. There will also be a Celebration of Life in Wadsworth, Ohio, on Saturday, September 20 at 10:30 a.m., in Memorial Park and at 1 p.m., at the VFW.

There is a great void from which we will never fully recover. We are consoled by the fond memories including so much laughter, unique experiences and wonderful moments spent with him.

This was a shock to all of us tighes since you and your family lived across the street from us. I will forward this to barb and cathy. If your brother John would email me, I have a neet picture of Ted, joe, Leslie and pat tighe back in the day. Not sure of the date.

  7. Ted Madigan. I had the honor of meeting Ted many years ago and the privilege of knowing his great sense of humor and kind heart. I remember he once said that “Tombstone Blues” by Bob Dylan was the best album he’d ever heard. Not sure why I remember that but I agreed and have been a fan ever since. So many fond, funny memories, too many, I would go on forever. We lost touch but recently reconnected through Facebook. I wish I would have been able to attend his celebration of life but I will always be grateful to have met him. Rest easy, old friend 💖
