David Douglas Prost, 45, of Smithville passed away Monday, November 17, 2025, at Wooster Community Hospital.

He was born on April 4, 1980, in Wooster to Timothy and Sandra Etzwiler Prost.

David worked as in custodial services at University of Akron Wayne College.  He enjoyed collecting Hot Wheels, baseball cards, and was an avid reader.  David loved watching movies and could name all of the different actors and what movies they had done.  He also loved telling jokes, making people laugh and telling stories.

He is survived by his dad Tim of Smithville, mom Sandy (Rex) Boreman of Aberdeen, N.C., sister Kaylee (Dennis) Stahl of Big Prairie, niece Sarah (Gary) Courtney of Shreve, cousins Dustin (Dona) Prost of Watertown, TN, and Shelly Skelly of Loudonville, great niece Jayden Courtney; uncle Eddie Battig of Laramie, WY, best friend Jamie (Laura) Rogers of Big Prairie, and cat Frankie.

David was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Maxine and Elmer Etzwiler and paternal grandparents Dud Prost and Ed and Donna Battig.

Memorial contributions may be made to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691 or Wayne County Dog Shelter, 5694 Burbank Rd., Wooster, Ohio 44691.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  1. Fly high Dave. I’m so glad I got to see you in September. I’ll always remember the ” reunion” with tears, laughter , hugs and talk. I first met you when you were 8 years old having your tonsils and adenoids removed. You were in the same room as John.
    A life taken too son for a man with a huge heart.

  4. David, you’ll always hold a special place in my heart as one of my earliest childhood friends. It’s heartbreaking to hear of your passing. You’ve gone far too soon, and the world is less bright without you. My deepest condolences to Sandy, Kaylee, and your entire family.

Fly high David you were a great man you gave me and my brother so many memories while we were younger I remember visiting you and your dad a lot and I loved every moment of it, I remember you making popcorn for us while we were kids and having a movie for us. I hope god treats you as well as you treated us, love you man I’m sorry I didn’t get to say goodbye
