Constance Sue Winkler

Constance Sue Winkler, born June 15, 1944, passed away on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, in the early morning hours at her home in Wooster. Her son, Stuart was by her side. She was born in Millersburg and raised in Danville by her parents, Paul and Eileen Koons.

Her family moved to Wooster where she met her future husband, Charlie Poulson, at the Madisonburg Dairy Queen where she worked. She attended the Cleveland Academy of Professional Secretaries and, on returning to Wooster, she was employed as an executive assistant at Wayne Savings & Loan. She then worked for Perret’s Interior Design where she discovered her true love, interior design. She subsequently started her own business, Vanitè Interiors, decorating homes throughout Wayne & Medina counties with her exquisite style.

Connie was an avid sewer, gardener, and knitter, and taught local culinary classes which showcased her profound love of cooking, and for which she won awards at local competitions. She became known for making beautiful clothes, hats and scarves for herself, family, and friends, and especially loved the holidays, spreading joy with homemade gifts of holiday cakes and cookies. Her many friends dubbed her their “Fancy Friend”. She enjoyed spending time at Quail Crest Farm and was instrumental in starting the Wayne County Herb Society. In her retirement, Connie was fond of sitting in a wicker rocker on her front porch to admire her gardens.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Stuart, and her beloved Aunt June Kline with whom she spent many summers. She is survived by her brothers Martin (Rose), Michael (Tina), Lindsay, and her sister Tina. A special thank you to the home healthcare aides that became her friends: Taleigha, Celeste, Jennifer, and Stacy.

The family will receive friends at McIntire Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill Street, Wooster, on Friday, December 5th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm for a Service of Remembrance. A Celebration of Life will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lifecare Hospice of Wayne County or The Wayne County Humane Society.

Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mcintirebradhamsleek.com.

  4. I met Connie many years ago as we became side by side neighbors, we shopped together, cooked together, and played together at Pleasant Hill Dam in our boat I remember the day Sean was born and the trips to see the new baby boy. And later years when Connie remarried, and I remarried, we became friends once again, doing social things together. I always admired Connie and her many talents. She was a cook, a seamstress, a decorator, and a good friend. I realize how special her relationship was with Sean over the years and I’m sending my deepest sympathies to Sean and her family as they navigate through the grief they share. Rest in peace, lovely lady white honey.

  5. I first met Connie when she came to our beauty shop. I didn’t do her hair but Carol Davis did. What I remember is when she was expecting Stuart and decorating the nursery she wanted to have the ceiling to be blue & white stripes, so she painted the stripes on the ceiling by hand. I remember thinking what a job that would have been. She always was the perfectionist. The last time I saw Connie she was so happy because her son had just the house she was living in.
