Tina Oliver, 67, was welcomed into the arms of Jesus on November 24th surrounded by her immediate family at OSU hospital after a sudden illness.

Tina was born August 8, 1958, to Phil & Joyce Chapman in Wooster. She was a student at Triway Local Schools where she met the love of her life Dan Oliver in 1970 in the halls of Triway Junior High School. They were named prom King and Queen and voted Mr. Titan & Ms. Triway before they graduated Triway High School in 1976. They attended and graduated from The Ohio State University together in 1980. Tina went on to get her master’s degree in special education from Ashland University.

Tina had an unwavering passion for children and teaching that was evident through the lasting impact she made on her students. She taught for 30 years, including Shreve Elementary: Kindergarten, Fourth grade and as a Reading Interventionist and went on to pursue her passion for special needs children teaching at Ida Sue School. Recently she has been a mentor for OHuddle, a mentorship program for youth in Wayne County.

Dan and Tina were founding members of New Pointe Community Church Wooster Campus and had been an active members and mentors since. Tina was a faithful Sunday School teacher for over 40 years both at Ripley Church of Christ and New Pointe Wooster Campus.

She was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, Mimi and friend. Tina exemplified God’s love in everything she did. She loved to cook, bake, garden and especially loved exploring new places, visiting the beach and hiking in Alaska. Her love language was serving others, especially through food; and her humble nature was ever-present. She had a mischievous spirit and loved to surprise people and bring joy to even the smallest moments.

Tina is survived by her husband Dan whom she married September 15, 1979, son Nathaniel (Allison) Oliver of Palmer, Alaska, Megan (Tom) Swart of Winchester, Kentucky, parents Phil & Joyce Chapman, brother David Chapman, sister Teresa (Galen) Miller all of Wooster. And the lights of her life, her grandchildren Elayna (15), Jack (13), Oskar (7), Logan (6), Ember (5) and her cherished nieces, nephews and in-laws.

Tina had the ability to make everyone feel seen and special and knew exactly how to love each person individually. She was the rock of her family, the compass to her friends and an unforgettable member of the Wooster and Triway communities. Her faith guided every move she made, and her life was rooted in sharing the love of Jesus with others.

A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Church of the Saviour 480 Fry Rd., Wooster with Jonathan Wood officiating.

Friends will be received on Saturday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Church of the Saviour.

  6. She was the brightest light in every room.
Her love reached everyone—steady, intentional, and deeply felt.
She loved with her whole heart.

She cooked with the same care she gave to people, making the best monster cookies, the freshest salads, and meals that always tasted like home.
And she served—quietly, joyfully—never once complaining.

    Her presence made life softer.
    Her kindness made life better.
    Her love made life fuller.

I am grateful for her friendship. Her motherly love, especially after the loss of my own mother. She will forever be missed.

Dan, Nathaniel, Megan- she loved you all so incredibly much. She loved your children and your families more than life itself. She would be over the moon when her family was coming to town. Keep coming. Keep showing up together. Keep honoring her with your time together.
All my love and prayers to you guys!

did know Tina, but just to say “HI”, and arrange our programs schedules!!
We had a lot to do for this population; they are worth all the time!!
I pray TINA will be remembered by all of you reading this with this verse:
Ecclesiastics, 3: 1-2 and 1-10…plus Psalms 41 then 40……It will help anyone in this circumstance.

We did talk and exchange a lot of information as well with the other teachers!
    GREAT GROUP!!

  34. Dear Dan and family,
We are sooo sorry to hear of Tina’s sudden passing. We know that Tina is in heaven now, but we sure could all benefit from having her still here with us.
I first met Tina when we were at Mansfield Campus of OSU and she helped me study for an exam, her first act of kindness to me, and that was beginning of our 50 year friendship. Then our Dan’s came into the picture and we all had sooo much fun together!
Tina was the true Energizer Bunny and put Suzy Homemaker to shame. I think Tina woke up every morning and said, what can I do today to help someone?
She could cook up a delicious feast or bake a batch of cookies to put a smile on someone’s face and touch their heart. Tina was a true disciple of Jesus. Her kind, caring, giving, forgiving, loving nature and that sweet smile and infectious laugh are what we will all remember.
Please accept our sincere condolences and know that we are here for you and praying that you find peace knowing that Tina is in heaven and will always be with you through all the beautiful memories you will carry with you forever.
    Love, Bev and Dan

  36. Dear Dan, Nathaniel, Megan, & Family, it is hard for me to find the words for all that is in my heart. I feel such profound sadness because I miss Tina so much already & can only imagine the sense of loss for her family. I also feel incredibly privileged to have experienced the wonder, blessing, & care that was Tina’s friendship. I am grateful that my last encounter with her so epitomized her kind & selfless heart for others. We ran into each other at Kohls just a few weeks ago. We shared concerns on our hearts, clasped hands, bowed our heads, & right there in the store, we lifted these needs to Jesus. What a beautiful memory of an indescribably beautiful & gentle soul! She resides in heaven’s light now & forever. May our memories inspire us in love, gratitude, & faithful service. May all those who love Tina be comforted by the Holy Spirit. We will see her again.

  41. I can’t even fathom a world without Tina in it shining her big smile. She loved everyone equally. Indirectly, she helped me realize I should pursue a career in special education. I saw her empathy when kids picked on our differently abled cafeteria helpers. Her empathy opened my eyes to the unfairness. I didn’t know your love story began in middle school, but you two were beautiful models of what true love looked like.
