Lois Wagner, 92, of Wooster passed away January 1, 2026, with her family at her side.

She was born March 8, 1933, in Orrville, Ohio to John and Margaret Winkler Conrad and grew up on the family farm with sisters Dorothy (Robert) Hahn and Donna (Dale) Shafer.

Mom expertly created scrapbooks and preserved so many memories for all of us. Looking through them, you see what was important to her – her family, her friends, her career, and her home.

Lois graduated from Smithville High School and enjoyed the many class reunions and friendships created at a young age that remained throughout her lifetime.

On December 4, 1954, she married Don Wagner. They had been married 62 years at the time he passed. They enjoyed traveling, many trips with family and friends to Alaska, Hawaii, throughout the U.S. and mixed a few cruises in along the way.

Shortly after their marriage Don was drafted and sent to Germany. She was fortunate to be able to join him overseas and through that experience established friendships with two couples who they shared many adventures and Army reunions with over their 60+ years of friendship. They travelled throughout Europe during their time there and were able to return several times in later years.

She had great pride and enjoyed her career as a registered X-Ray Technologist working at Wooster Community Hospital, Wooster Clinic and Wooster Orthopedic and Sports Medicine from where she retired.

She was a member of the Westwood Garden Club and for many years attended Women of the Word Bible study.

She cherished her country home where they raised their family. Despite the growth around them over fifty years, they were able to enjoy the seclusion and nature they loved and worked so hard to preserve.

She is survived by her son Brad (Kia) Wagner and his daughter Samantha Wagner; daughter Kathi (George) Horlacher and their children Sarah Horlacher and her sons Greyson and Blake; Travis Horlacher; and Meghan (Andy) Hammons and their children Arden and Ella. She is also survived by her sister Dorothy Hahn and sister-in-law Janice Wagner as well as nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Don, her sister Donna preceded her along with brother-in-laws Robert Hahn, Dale Shafer, Harold Wagner and Wayne Wagner, sister-in-law Dolores Wagner and nephews Ron and Hal Shafer.

Memorial contributions can be made to Trinity United Church of Christ where she was a member at 150 E. North Street, Wooster, Ohio 44691.

We are grateful for her close friends and acquaintances who visited with her and provided joy the past few years as her health declined. Thank you to the staff at Brookdale Senior Living and LifeCare Hospice for your patience and care.

We will celebrate her life on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 11:00AM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St. Wooster with Rev. Dr. Kevan Franklin officiating. Entombment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.  Family and friends may call an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

  4. Lois and Don were a wonderful couple and I enjoyed being around them. Don was our milk man, and Lois knew he had many families that adored him, and she’d teased him about how many kids he had on his milk route. They had the best humor between them. You knew you were always welcomed at their home. My condolences to the family and friends on Lois passing.

  5. My deepest sympathy for the passing of one of our dearest friend, Lois. We met Lois and Don in Germany while my husband Ken (he passed away 6-5-24) was stationed there while in the USA Army. Immediately a bond was formed that lasted a “lifetime” with them plus another dear couple, Hal and Jan Manning. As a trio, we enjoyed a lifetime of remarkable memories. The good Lord bonded us and provided an amazing friendship. My love and hugs for your family as Lois joins her love in heaven🩷🙏🙏🩷
