John Allan Strock, 69, of Shreve died Friday January 16, 2026, at his home.

Family services and interment at Wooster Cemetery will be conducted at a later date.  There will be no calling hours.

He was born February 22, 1956, in Wooster to Marilyn Eleanor (Neilson) and James Thomas Strock.

He was a 1974 graduate of Wooster High School.

Professionally, he worked for Halliburton, Incorporated for a number of years, followed by Mansfield Plumbing and later for area automobile dealerships parts departments.

He enjoyed charity poker runs on his Harley motorcycle and spending time with his large circle of friends at his summer spot on O’Dell Lake.  In his youth, he spent many hours helping out and learning various trades at Kister Mill in Millbrook, Ohio.  Those formative experiences later enabled him to be instrumental in assisting and advising members of the Western Reserve Land Conservancy regarding mill history and operations during their acquisition and restoration of the mill.

He is survived by his sister Diane S. (Ronald) Vanden Dorpel of Rumford, Rhode Island, and brothers Colonel James N. (Claudia) Strock, U.S. Marine Corps (retired) of Woodbridge, Virginia and Lieutenant Colonel Frederick T. (Judy) Strock, U.S. Marine Corps (retired) of Chandler, Arizona, his aunt Elaine N. Crater of Gaylord, Michigan, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to the Western Reserve Land Conservancy (designate Kister Mill on check memo line), 3850 Chagrin River Road, Moreland Hills, OH 44022, or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
