Phyllis Jeanne Gerencher, 83, of Wooster passed away Friday, January 16, 2026, at Summa Health in Akron.

She was born on May 17, 1942, in Lodi to John and Alice Flory Swanson.  On July 4, 1993, she married Dennis Gerencher.

Phyllis was a homemaker.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, crafting, thrifting and most of all spending time with friends and family.

She is survived by her children Faye (Gary) Reed of Wooster and John (Tammy) Winkler of Wooster; grandchildren Colin Reed, Colton (Heather) Reed, Cory Reed, Caitlyn Reed, Megan (Tyler) Boggs, and Rachel (Robert) Germann; great grandchildren Maize and Oaklynn.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and a sister Judy Swanson Pardue.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Mohican Church, 7759 Elyria Rd., West Salem, Ohio 44287.

Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Mohican Church in West Salem.  There will be a meal to follow the service.

  3. The Northwestern Class of 1960 wishes to express our sincere sympathy to the Winkler family. Phyllis was a great classmate, very quiet and very studious. It was nice she could join us for some of our yearly reunions.
