Ellen Saroha

December 5, 1923 – February 17, 2026

Ellen Saroha, beloved grandmother, mother, teacher, and friend, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the remarkable age of 102. Held in the grace of God and the quiet promise of peace, she departed as she had lived — with dignity, faith, and a spirit that touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Born on December 5, 1923, in Mahoba, India, Ellen lived a life marked by unwavering faith, quiet strength, fierce independence, and a love for family that knew no bounds. She crossed continents and decades, and through every chapter, remained unmistakably herself.

Ellen devoted her professional life to the nurturing of young minds as a middle school teacher, guiding her students through multiple subjects with patience, passion, and purpose. She had a rare gift for meeting children at the threshold of who they were becoming, inspiring in them not only a love of learning but the confidence to reach for more.

While her husband, Daniel Saroha — who preceded her in death — served away on military duty, Ellen raised their three daughters largely on her own, meeting the demands of a full life with the steady resolve that defined her throughout.

Those who knew Ellen remember her laughter most of all. Her humor was genuine, her wit quick, and her delight in the company of friends and family was one of life’s great pleasures to witness. She remained active and self-sufficient well into her later years, approaching each day with an appetite for living that younger generations quietly envied.

She is survived with immense love by her daughters, Kanchan Alexander, Jyotsna Harris, and Pramila D’Souza; her grandchildren, Ashley and Caroline Alexander, Meera and Anjali Harris, and Nisha Johnson; and a wide circle of cherished friends, former students, and extended family whose lives she touched with kindness and wisdom.

Her family takes comfort in the belief that she now rests in the light of the Lord, reunited with those who went before her. The legacy she leaves behind — one of faith, resilience, learning, and joyful living — will continue to inspire all who carry her memory forward.

She was one of a kind, and she will not be forgotten.
