Maria Teresa Smith, 87, of Wooster entered the Lord’s rest on Saturday, February 21, 2026.  She was also known as the co-owner of Terry Martin Sewing and Alterations.

Maria had a tremendous career as a seamstress and tailor.  She attended the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City-where she had a promising career in fashion.  She moved to Ohio in 1974 and began sewing for Nordstrom’s and Marshall Fields, and opened her own sewing establishment in Columbus where she altered clothes for celebrities, reconstructed wedding gowns, altered and repaired leather and fur coats.  In 2016 she opened her second shop in Wooster, sewing for her community.  She will be remembered not only for her great talent, but also for her wit, generous heart and great faith.

She was survived her children Terry Lynn (Pruski) Lunn, Thomas W.C. Smith and Michael Smith.  She was a grandmother of 7, great-grandmother of 11 and a great-great-grandmother of 12.

Maria was preceded in death by her parents Guillermo and Rosa Martinez, husband Clinton W. Smith, sister Rosa Folwkes and great-grandson Stephen A. Pruski.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Faith Harvest Fellowship, 9464 Lincoln Way E., Orrville.  Interment will be at 2:00 PM at Greenlawn Cemetery, 1000 Greenlawn Avenue, Columbus, OH

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
