Ann Mars, a true Southern lady with a fondness for all things that sparkle, passed away peacefully in Wooster, Ohio, on Tuesday, March 3, after a long battle with health challenges.  Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, Ann devoted her life to her family as a loving wife, mother, aunt and grandmother.

Ann found joy in flowers, travel, and music.  She was deeply well-read and always spoke with eloquence, her Southern grace evident in every gesture and word.  Ann’s love language was gift-giving and heartfelt conversation, and she touched many lives with her warmth and generosity.  Her faith was very important to her; she loved the Lord and often spoke of Heaven with hope and confidence. Ann now joins her parents, her brother, her beloved daughter Leah, and many dear relatives in eternal rest.

Her husband of 66 years and 8 months, John, was steadfast by her side, caring for her with unwavering devotion throughout her final years.  Ann’s legacy lives on in her children; Lisa (husband Dave; their children Meghan, Leah, and Landon, and three grandchildren) and Leigh (husband Jim; their children Dalton and Cassidy, and two grandchildren).

Ann will be remembered for her kindness, her grace, and the love she gave so freely to all who knew her.

There is to be no services.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  2. I have known Ann for 50 years. She was my sister-in-law. The last thing she said to me was “I consider you the sister I never had.” The feeling was mutual. She told me once that she thought of my kids as her grandchildren. We will all miss her deeply. The obituary describes her perfectly and is beautifully written.

  3. I am so sorry to see this. Ann was a cousin to my mother, Lavie. She loved Ann so much! I have been fortunate to have met and visited with her a few times. She was such a Southern Belle! As beautiful inside as outside. I loved her parents, my Great Aunt and Great Uncle, Elmer and Edna Earl Harrington. My trips to Louisana always meant a visit with them. Such a wonderful, wonderful family. So gracious. So Southern. John (Popeye), Lisa, Leigh, and families, my sympathy. Susie Giddens Orcholski, Bryan, Ohio.

A lovely lady. Peace and wonderful memories to her wonderful family, Cindy Giddens Hosier, Prescott Valley, Arizona

  5. What a beautiful tribute to a truly beautiful lady. Im truly saddened at her passing. Ann’s (and Popeye’s) generosity was so appreciated when they offered their condo on Orange Beach to my family for a much needed get away after my son passed away unexpectedly.
My sisters are so right…we always enjoyed visits and letters from our southern family! (Aunt EdnaEarl called us the Yankee cousins❤️). Popeye, Lisa, Leigh and families, my prayers are with you.
