Frank W. Hoover, 91, of Shreve, Ohio, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on Friday, March 13, 2026.
Frank lived a full life, finding happiness in dancing, boating, fishing, snowmobiling, horseback riding, and time spent outdoors. Known for his kindness, generosity, and warm spirit, he brought comfort and laughter to those around him.
He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a tank commander. A graduate and former King of Shreve High School, he founded Frank W. Hoover Supply and Cherokee Drilling. He was a Mason, a Shriner, and a dedicated member of Bethany Baptist Church, where he rebuilt the steeple with the help of friends.
Frank was a devoted husband of 73 years to his beloved wife, Mary, and a loving father to Heidi and Stacy. He expressed his love through constant care, generosity, and quiet acts of giving.
He will be remembered for his gentle humor, his whistling, and the many lives he touched—a man many would describe as “a prince of a guy.”
Family and friends are warmly invited to attend the burial service on Sunday, April 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Moreland Cemetery, 198 E. Moreland Road, Wooster, Ohio. Masonic services to be held at 3:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 246 North Market Street, Wooster, Ohio, to be followed by Gathering of Remembrance ending at 6:00 p.m. where all are welcome to join in remembering and honoring Frank.

My condolences to Frank’s family. He was a kind and good man and really loved his family, his work and life. I always enjoyed talking with him and his contribution to the oil industry.
So sorry to hear of Frank’s passing . He was always a good neighbor and will be well remembered by myself and my family. My condolences to Mary and the family.
I met Frank and Mary in 1986 when we were lucky enough to purchase our home from them. I often think about how different our lives would have been if we hadn’t been able to do that and how blessed we were to have been able to deal with a great couple. Mary, Stacy, and Heidi may God grant you grace during this difficult time and temporary separation.
It was a privilege and honor to meet Frank on a Delta Air Lines flight and establish a friendship that endured to many visits to wherever we both were. Thankful for knowing him and his family.
