Kay Heim Walton, age 78, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, in West Chester, Ohio, after a hard-fought battle with Lewy Body Dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and multiple hip surgeries.
Kay was born on November 11, 1947, in Lisbon, Ohio, to Jake and LaRue Heim. She graduated from Triway High School in 1965 where she was head majorette with the marching band. In 1969, she married her husband, Ken Walton, and the two began their life together in Colorado Springs, Colorado, where Ken was stationed in the U.S. Army. Upon returning to Wooster, Ohio, Kay began a long and dedicated career at Wooster Community Hospital, where she worked for 35 years in the Head Nurse’s office.
10 years ago, Kay and Ken moved to Morrow, Ohio, to be closer to their children and grandchildren. There, they welcomed their beloved dog, Poppy, who became Kay’s faithful companion throughout her illness. She enjoyed spending time traveling to Las Vegas, Durango, Colorado, Arcadia National Park, and Michigan, attending her grandchildren’s football, hockey, volleyball, and softball games, and hanging out with family and friends.
Kay is survived by her loving husband, Ken Walton of Morrow, Ohio; her daughters, Jill (Nick) Stocksdale of Morrow, Ohio, and Hayley (Joseph) Kennedy of Oxford, Ohio; and her cherished grandchildren, Madicyn (Tyler) Cheek, Reis Stocksdale, Delaney Stocksdale, Max Kennedy, and Seamus Kennedy. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Willow and River Rogers, and Xavier Stocksdale. She is also survived by her brothers Len (Donna) Heim, and Terry (Kim) Heim, as well as nieces and nephews Judy (Mark) Bentley, Roger (Teresa) Heim, Heather (Kenny) Brown, Brandon (Amber) Heim, Melissa (Jared) Keener, and Eric (Dani) Lee.
Kay will be remembered for her strength, devotion to her family, and the quiet kindness she showed to those around her. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Services will be held on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at 1:00 PM at the McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster. Interment will follow at Wooster Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 until the time of service on Thursday.

To Kay’s and Ken’s and Loving daughters Jill(Nick) Stocksdale famly and the Kayley’s (Joseph) Cheek family, the great grandchildren and nieces and nephews: I went and followed the stocksdale family via Classmates graduating in 1971 and watched the children grow as well as Kay and Ken from 1960’s on and worked with Kay at WCH since the early 70’s-2006. She was quiet and beautiful and loving. I will miss her and mourn her loss with you. Love to the entire family.

Heart Felt Condolences to Ken and his Family: Known Kay since our days at Triway and together in the Band at Shreve and Triway. My sister Linda replaced Kay at Head Majorette following Kay’s Graduation with positive learning from Kay. Mrs. Walton always the same with her demeanor always up beat…kind words to all she knew every time we meet with Ken always at her side. Sad to hear the loss of Kay.
Kay and Kenny were like parents to me, growing up. Hayley has been my best friend since third grade. Kay always made sure Hayley’s little sister, Jill was included, that ment sleep overs at Kenny and Kay’s house. I always felt welcome. Those were very special times for me. Kay, you will be missed by all.
Kay and I had a lot of good memories from high school and after graduation. We were in each other’s weddings. She was a sweet and caring person. So sorry for your loss
My sincere sympathy to Ken,Jill,Haylay, and families. As an employee of WCH I became acquainted with Kay and enjoyed many lunches with her over the years. I so enjoyed her company during those lunch times. Kay was such a sweet kind person who was willing to help all and was a joy to know. She will be missed by all who knew her.
