Kenneth “Ken” “Pops” Elmer Johnston

Kenneth “Ken” “Pops” Elmer Johnston, 89, of Wooster died on Monday, May 18, 2026 at his home.

He was born March 11, 1937 in Tioga, WV.

Ken worked in various jobs throughout his life including coal mines, saw mills and factories. He enjoyed watching wrestling, fishing, playing cards (especially Poker and Rummy) and spending time with his family. He loved working on cars, and it he couldn’t fix it then no one could. Ken didn’t just have a sweet tooth; he had a full set of sweet teeth and a heart of gold. He would do anything for anyone and would always offer you bite to eat.

Ken is survived by his children Ronald (Angela) Johnson, Cathy (Frank) Graser, Joyce Johnston and Patty (Michael) Garver all of Wooster, Missy (Steve) McCartney of Cowen, WV, Kenneth L. Johnston of Orrville, Lisa Johnson and Robert Johnston both of Wooster; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and siblings Bobby Jarvis of Tioga, WV and Margie Williams of WV along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother Beulah Johnston Jarvis; wife Helen Drennen; former wife Lequetta Johnson; son Sylvester William Johnston; siblings Cootie Jarvis, Ruth Brown, Dale Jarvis, Ruby Williams and Delbert Jarvis.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at 6:00 PM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster.

Friends will be received from 4:00 PM until the time of service on Tuesday.
