Norma Marie Kryder, age 90, of Wooster, passed away on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Danbury Wooster after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Born on March 28,1936 near Blachleyville, Ohio, she was the daughter of Harold and Evalyn Snyder Wilson, graduated from Smithville High School in 1954, and married R. Eugene Kryder on November 23, 1956.

She was a lifelong member of Wayne Presbyterian Church, where she played piano for Sunday School, rang in the church’s bell choir and served as an elder.

She worked as secretary at Layton Elementary School in Wooster and later in the Animal Sciences and Human Resources departments at OARDC, retiring in 2001.

She is survived by her daughter, Susan (Martin) Elliott of Ashland; sons, Dennis Kryder of Canton and Christopher Kryder of Apple Creek; grandchildren, Jennifer (Ross) Schultz, Stacey (Jason) Hershberger, and John Leach; great-grandchildren, Erika Schultz, Alexi Leach, Codey Hershberger, Kacie Hershberger, and Kylie Hershberger; siblings, Lois Covert of Jeromesville and Timothy (Melody Krieg) Wilson of Wooster; many nieces and nephews and caregiver Sherry Kryder.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, brothers Dean and Jack Wilson, and infant sister Sue Ellen Wilson and a special companion Dean Swartz.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Bob Meyer officiating.  Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens in Wooster.

Friends will be received on Friday from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Danbury of Wooster and Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare for all of their love and support of Norma over the years.

    Condolences for the loss of your mother. I remember a lot of fun times back in the 60s with the Akins, Kryders, and Perry’s.

  5. My condolences to Norma’s family. She was a good and kind lady. As family reunions dwindled over the years, I haven’t seen her in sometime, but I have good memories of her and Eugene.
