Cynthia Louise McCauley, 76, passed away in the early hours of Saturday morning, June 20, 2026, at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster; reunited with her best friend and husband, Bob, 56 days after his passing.
“Cindy” Mohr was born on February 27, 1950, to Robert Mauer Mohr and Beatrice Jean (Amos) Mohr. She married her husband, Robert “Bob” McCauley, in August 1971, and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage together.
Cindy dedicated her life to public education and touched many lives along the way. She served as a teacher and administrator in Wayne and Holmes Counties for 32 years. She was kindhearted, dedicated, and could light up a room with her presence. Passionate about education, horses, dogs, photography, the outdoors, and her family, Cindy left a lasting impact on those around her.
Preceded in death by her father, mother, her brother Rick, and beloved husband, Bob. Cindy is survived by her son, Benjamin (Paige) McCauley, her grandchildren, Dylan and Payton McCauley of Charleston, SC. and her brother, Michael (Laura) Mohr; and her nieces, Mikaela (Jayson) Taylor of Lakeview, OH and Cassie Mohr of Arlington, VA.
Cindy will be laid to rest next to her husband in Reedsburg Cemetery. McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

Coach Cindy took 5 of us to compete in Ohio’s first Girl’s State Track meet post Title IX in 1975. She was a life-line to all of us who had the privilege of her time as our awesome, fun, caring Coach!

Cindy and I use to work together at Tri Co but shared many other experiences together such as 4-H, working at Maurers Pharmacy etc. I have great memories of our experiences together. Mr. and Mrs. McCauley were a delight to be around. I remember Cindy and I attending some workshops in Medina back in the day. We always found something to laugh about even during those long days of learning. My sincere condolences to Ben and his family. They were so very proud of you, Ben.

I am so sorry (shocked?) to hear of Cindy’s death. We had so much fun in high school and then we didn’t see much of each other until a couple of years ago at book signing in Berlin. We picked right up where we left off! Such a ray of light. My condolences.

My heart aches for your family. When I saw that she passed, I started to cry. I was lucky enough to have her twice as a teacher. First in elementary and second in highschool. I loved your mom’s smile! I can remember in class her telling everyone as long as you take notes you can’t fail my class! I can also remember how she walked down the hall with her hands behind her back and talking to all of us kids. She was a GREAT lady and I will always be grateful at what she taught me!

So sorry to hear of Mrs. McCauley’s passing. She was my high school teacher, but more than that she and Mr. McCauley were so happy to help others. A friend and I happened to see her at a cafe in Wooster a few years ago (probably more like 7-8 years ago) and she was just as kind and friendly as she was back in high school.

not only was Cindy a classmate of mine, but we also bought a horse off of them by the name of Skip. we loved talking with Bob and Cindy, and loved Skip he was a great horse. You have our deepest sympathy, your parents were wonderful people.

Ben, I am so sorry for the loss of your parents. They were two of the kindest, most caring people I have ever met. As a first year teacher I succeeded your mom in her position at Shreve Elementary, and she was so helpful to me. In later years, she was our children’s 4H advisor and eventually my daughter’s English teacher. She was a shining light in whatever role she played. Your dad was a source of comfort and support to us when our son had behavioral issues in high school. Wishing comfort for you and your family.
The best English teacher, listener, always showed love to me and support through high school. Talking horses, 4-H , basketball, and about the family. She was one of the truest of souls.i have ever encountered.
I always admired the love her and Bob shared together, they were so proud of Ben they would always talk praises. I am sure Ben you are just a wonderful man, you were raised by 2 of the best people.
