Bernard “Bernie” J. Buchholz, 95, of Wooster died on Sunday, June 21, 2026 at his home.

He was born September 21, 1930 in Wooster to Edward and Ottilia Rothacker Buchholz.  On March 2, 1957, he married Carolyn J. Wyatt.  She preceded him in death in 2023.

Bernie had been the owner/operator of Buchholz Plumbing and Heating for many years.  He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, traveling and baking cookies and bread with his grandkids.  Bernie was a jokester and loved a good dad joke.  He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Moose and Eagles.

Bernie served his country in the U.S. Navy.

He is survived by his children Karen (Frank) Cardinallo of Mesa, AZ, Michael L. (Sherrill Wise) Buchholz of Wooster, Anne (Randy) Jenkins of Orrville, Lynn Buchholz of Wooster and Jennifer (Nick) George of Apple Creek; grandchildren Cameron, Chloe and Jessica.

Along with his wife, Bernie was preceded in death by his parents and siblings William Buchholz, Anastasia Flick and Leon Buchholz.

A Service of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026 at 10:00 AM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Rev. Stephen Moran officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.

Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Contributions may be directed to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, 1900 Akron Rd., Wooster, OH 44691.
