Phyllis Kline, 94, of Wooster passed away on July 17, 2026, at Danbury of Wooster.

She was born on February 22, 1932, in Perrysburg, OH to Philip J. and Stella Riggs Kline, she and her family moved to the Price Hill suburb of Cincinnati in 1934, where she graduated from Western Hills High School with the class of 1950. She became a Wooster resident upon her marriage to Robert C. Kline on June 28, 1952.

Phyllis learned steno typing at the Hamel-Actual Business College during the 1960’s and retired as official court reporter of the Wayne County Common Pleas Court in 2001. She was a member of Central Christian Church, the Price Hill Historical Society, and had received her 50-year membership pin from the Wooster Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, now merged with the Garfield Chapter in West Salem.

She is survived by her daughter; Karen (David) Cowan of Orange Village, OH; her son, Philip J. (Sandra) Kline of Wooster; grandchildren Kelsey Elizabeth Kline, Andrew Cowan, Grace Cowan, and Philip Joseph (Peyton) Kline; 3 great-grandchildren Charlotte, Taylor, and Reed Leighty; and 1 great-granddaughter Kline soon-to-be-born.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband on January 9, 2007; her granddaughter Whitney Lowe on June 8, 2012; and half-sisters Kathryn Kline Vaughn and Jacqueline Gordon Annis.

“Your mother is always with you. She’s the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street, the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick, the fragrance of life, itself. She’s the cool hand on your forehead when you’re not feeling well, the breath in the air you can see on a cold winter’s day, the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of the rainbow. She is Christmas morning. She’s the sound of your laughter. She’s the place you came from, your first home; she’s your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy; but nothing on earth can separate you-not time, not space… not even death.”
