James “Jim” L. Wensink
James “Jim” L. Wensink, 72, of Findlay, Ohio, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at Bridge Hospice in Findlay.
Jim was born on April 4, 1954, in Napoleon, Ohio, to Don and Norma Wensink. He was raised in Deshler, Ohio, and later made his home in Findlay. Jim graduated from Patrick Henry High School. On June 30, 1979, he married the love of his life, Tina Yocom, and together they built a life filled with love, family, laughter, and countless memories.
Jim was a devoted husband and father who worked hard throughout his life to provide a wonderful life for Tina and their son, John. He began his career at Metal Forge in Deshler before spending 42 years at Ball Metal in Findlay. His strong work ethic and dedication were a reflection of the man he was: dependable, hardworking, and always willing to do whatever was needed for his family and friends.
Jim had many interests and enjoyed making the most of life. He loved spending time with his family and was a true world traveler, enjoying the opportunity to explore new places, experience different cultures, and create memories along the way. He also enjoyed auto racing, boating, fishing, cooking, and golf. Jim had a natural talent for mechanics and could seemingly fix just about anything, often inspiring the familiar phrase, “Jim can fix it!” He enjoyed crossword puzzles and had a wonderful sense of humor that could brighten any room.
Most of all, Jim loved people. He never met a stranger, and everyone he encountered was a potential friend. His easy-going nature, kindness, humor, and genuine interest in others left an impression on all who knew him. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Jim is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Tina (nee Yocom), of Findlay; his son, John (Lindsay nee Poma), of Sandusky; his brother, Ron Wensink (Deb nee Ellis), of Deshler; his sisters, Barb Johnson of Bedford, Indiana and Peg Holland of Bowling Green; and his sister-in-law, Carol Yocom (Brad Warner), of Wooster.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Norma Wensink; his sister and brother-in-law, Marianne and Steve McClean; and brothers-in-law Timothy Johnson and Robert Holland.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Sunday, September 6, 2026, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Findlay Elks, 900 W. Melrose Ave., Findlay, Ohio 45840.

Jim’s life was defined by his love for his family, his friendships, his hard work, his sense of adventure, and his ability to find humor and joy in everyday moments. His memory will live on in the many lives he touched, the places he explored, and the countless smiles he left behind.

Jim was an awesome friend that was always willing to help everyone. Had many days at the nascar races and Ball cookouts having fun with all. Was very proud to call him a friend.

What a truly kind and wonderful man. I will always remember his genuine kindness, wonderful character and of course, his amazing cooking skills! So sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. I have lots of good memories of him and his sense of humor, the cookouts he invited me to and the discussion about certain basket ball players.
Sorry for your loss! I met Jim at planet fitness one day. I had on my Patrick Henry shirt, he asked if I went there and I said yes. He introduced himself to me and I did the same. He knew my parents. We would have conversations when we would run into each other. Great guy!

So very sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Jim at Ball. He was such a great cook and always had a smile to share. I wll always remember how happy he was to don the Santa Suit each year for the Childrens Christmas Party. Praying for the family during this difficult time.

Many words come to mind when I think of Jim, like kind, pleasant , wise, caring, driven, patriotic, hard worker. I feel blessed to have known him, work with him and have the many memories from the customer cookouts. My prayers go out to the entire Wensink family.

The trip was full if adventures!
We each thought we had to bring oranges back….like Shakey used to do.. sooo… the trip home in that little car was 4boys 4 bushels of oranges!

We had a lot of good times in the boy scouts back in the day. Jim was always willing to help the younger guys learn new things.

Tina, I hope you know you’ve all been on my mind. You know how much I value our friendship and I am forever in your debt. Letting my family with not 1 but 2 teenaged girls and a small pup move in with you without a second thought was more than most people would do. But you guys fed us, watched the dog, worked on our house, cooked for a grad party and MANY OTHER THINGS. If we had a dollar for every time Jim said, “You can’t be cold”, we could take a vacation together! 💚
Also, how could I forget that Jim taught me how to make the best ribs!

Oh how we loved seeing Jim and Ron at the Chili Bowl. We enjoyed their company and always made us laugh as we talked racing. Our thoughts and prayers sent to you all. Jim was a one in a million and even though our friendship was from afar, we thought of him as a forever friend.
We continue to pray for comfort and peace….and know he is missed by so many but now at rest!

Jim was such a nice and very intelligent man. My husband and I met him at Talladega Races. He was always such a blessing to talk to. I have always wanted to meet his wife Tina, he only had nice things to say about her. My condolences to her and their family. ♥️🙏🫂

Tina and I were roommates at BGSU. I remember how much Tina and Jim were in love. One evening we had dinner at Jim’s apartment and he made us “Beef Muffrooms” (basically ground beef and mushroom soup on English muffins), which was delicious.

Tina, John, and family, Jim brought light and laughter wherever he went. To me, he was a teacher, a great leader, a mentor, a master problem solver, and a friend. He was also always curious and a constant learner of new things. An adventure always awaited; work, cookouts, races, etc. I will never forget him coaching me through driving the RV “The Belcher” back from a race over the Ohio River in Cincinnati, when midway across the bridge, the engine failed in rush hour traffic – always an exciting time.
