In Loving Memory of Gaile Peacock
Gaile Gertrude Peacock passed away peacefully on August 16, 2026, at the age of 79, after a life devoted to her family, faith, teaching, music, and caring for others.
She was born on August 12, 1947, to Richard and Gertrude Weber of South Haven, Michigan. Gaile attended St. Paul Lutheran School and graduated from L.C. Mohr High School in 1965. She was active in choir, drama club, and the high school band, proudly playing the French horn. She also played piano and later shared her love of music by playing the organ at church for many years.
Gaile earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Western Michigan University in just three years and was a member of Phi Mu sorority.
In June 1971, Gaile married her beloved husband, Ronald Peacock, and moved to West Salem, Ohio. She continued her teaching career in Ashland, teaching kindergarten before taking several years away from teaching to raise their family. During that time, she enjoyed being a member of the local Holly Homemakers Club and singing hymns with an area group.
Gaile eventually returned to teaching at Northwestern Local School District, where she touched the lives of hundreds of middle school students as a language arts teacher. Many former students remember her fondly for her kindness and encouragement.
After retirement, Gaile cherished time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her family always came first. She attended nearly every single one of their activities and always made sure they knew how proud she was.
Gaile also enjoyed reading, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, convertible rides with Ron, and discovering new places to eat together.
Gaile’s deep faith was an important part of who she was and the life she lived. She was a member of Wayne Presbyterian Church in Wooster, Ohio.
Gaile is survived by her loving husband, Ron; daughters, Andrea (Mike) Tepe of Wooster, Ohio, and Diane (Keith) DiDonato of Ostrander, Ohio. Grandchildren- McKenna (Jake) Holliday, Emmy Tepe, Roman DiDonato, and Reid DiDonato; great-grandchildren, Krew and Kaysen Holliday; two brothers and their spouses; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Gertrude Weber.
Gaile was the heart of her family in so many ways. Her love and unwavering devotion will be deeply missed, and her memory will be cherished forever.
Calling hours will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM at Wayne Presbyterian Church in Wooster, Ohio. A private burial will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.

I am grateful I had the opportunity to get to know Gaile through McKenna playing volleyball with our daughter. She faithfully attended games and her pride in and devotion to her family were obvious. She was always incredibly kind and encouraging and I always enjoyed chatting with her. My thoughts and prayers are with Ron and the entire family.
I enjoyed knowing her and teaching with her at Northwestern schools. Our girls were friends in school. Wonderful human.
May our Lord comfort you in your loss. Gaile (Mrs. Peacock) was a wonderful teacher, always joy-filled and faith driven. Your family will be in my prayers.
To the entire Peacock family, please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of your wonderful wife, mom and grandma. Every time I saw her she had a smile on her face. Her students were fortunate to have her as their teacher. What a blessed life.
Gaile (Mrs. Peacock) was such an inspiration to me, and one of the teachers I had that made me want to also become a teacher. Her kindness, her caring, and her thoughtfulness is what I most remember. I still referenced things she taught me in 8th grade ELA at Congress in my own ELA middle school classes I taught. She’s a legend!

I am so sorry to learn of Gaile’s passing. She was always so nice and ready with a smile. She loved her girls so much! May all your happy memories comfort you at this time.

Not only was I a student of Mrs. Peacock’s in 8th grade, but I also had the privilege of becoming her co-teacher when I first started teaching. I was fortunate enough to work alongside her for several years, and during that time, she taught me so much about the teaching profession.
I consider Mrs. Peacock one of my favorite mentors and feel incredibly blessed to have had her guidance throughout my teaching career. Her encouragement, wisdom, and example have had a lasting impact on me as an educator. I will forever be grateful for everything she taught me both as a student and an adult.
I am so sorry to hear of Gaile’s passing. I was also fortunate enough to be a student of Mrs. Peacock at Northwestern and knew her more recently as well. It was evident she chose the right profession and she impacted countless lives throughout her career.
