Russell T. Eyring, 65, of Wooster died on Monday, August 17, 2026 at his home.
He was born January 15, 1961 in Medina to Ronald and Betty Davis Eyring. He graduated from Mentor High School and Lakeland Community College.
Russell retired as a supervisor at Department of Job and Family Services. After retirement he worked for Lowe’s, Apple Creek Bank and the Wayne/Medina Community Action. Russell enjoyed fishing, camping, Browns and Ohio State University Football.
He is survived by his wife, Ellen Greving Eyring; children Craig Eyring, Megan (A.J) Nelson and Sarah (Rigo) Soto all of TN and Stephen (Amanda) Eyring of GA; grandchildren Aiden Griffith and Paloma Soto; bonus grandchildren James Long, Kaycee Hume, Jordan Hume and Jayden Eyring; siblings Michelle (John) Roach of Painesville, Steve (Janet) Eyring of Mentor, Rob (Diane) Bartholomai of Eastlake and Rona (Jeff) Kempert of Willoughby; bonus mom Bonnie Eyring of Willoughby; brother-in-law Jim Loach; numerous nieces, nephew, brothers and sisters in law.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Cheree Brenner, Cherelle Webber and Sally Loach.
The family would like to extend a sincere “Thank You!” to Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare, Wooster City Emergency Services, family and friends for all of the help in the past year.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

Russ was one of my favorite people. After going through trauma, I had a hard time trusting people. Even though he acted like a hard-ass, he was a big softie inside, especially when it came to children. He was witty, often doing little bits just to make coworkers laugh.
We talked about music, his children, racecars, life, and what new tv shows to watch. We also argued about passionate topics, which only grew our friendship. He wanted to be with his family- often talking about his wife, kids, and grandkids.
I’m so sorry he’s gone… I wanted him to get better, we all did. I hope he was able to find comfort, and that his family has support to get through this, heal through the grief, and find peace.

I’m so grateful I’ve gotten to work with Ellie and Russ separately.
Russ and I were office neighbors at Community Action, and I had the privilege of helping train him and develop work instructions for him when he started.
He always knew how to make people smile and laugh.
He will be greatly missed, and I’ll continue to think of him often.
Ellie, I’m so very sorry for your loss. He was one of the “cool” guys. And what a sense of humor! Sometimes I struggled to tell if he was serious or joking. He was great to work with as I’m sure you know he was very intelligent although I would never have told him that, lol! Blessings to you and your family.
I am the HR Manager for Apple Creek Bank. We are so sorry for your loss. Russ was such a light and brought his amazing sense of humor to every situation. We loved working with him, and it was always a joy when he came into the bank or called in every now and again. We are deeply saddened to hear about his passing. Ellie, I don’t know what to say. Sorry doesn’t seem like enough. Russ was one of kind, with a good heart and love for his family. He was very proud of them. I enjoyed getting to know and work with him. Smart man. Praying for you and your family through this difficult time.
