Janet Miller Reed, born August 17, 1936, of Wooster, Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 20, 2026, at the age of 90.
Janet was a remarkable woman who lived by the words, “She could do anything.” She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, educator, foster parent, and friend whose warmth and generosity touched many lives.
She met her husband, Sheridan “Bob” M. Reed, while attending Ohio University. They were married for almost 68 years and built a life centered on family, love, and service. Janet later earned her Master’s Degree from Kent State University and spent 20 years as a media specialist for the Cardinal School District in Middlefield, Ohio, serving children and families with dedication.
Janet and Bob raised their four children—Debra, Suanne, Curtis, and Scott—in Burton, Ohio. Their home was also a place of welcome for four foster children over the years, each of whom was embraced as part of the family.
She enjoyed gardening, reading, birdwatching, and swimming, and she loved bringing people together as a gracious and welcoming hostess.
After retirement, Janet and Bob spent 20 years in Jekyll Island, Georgia, before returning to Wooster to be closer to family.
She is survived by her husband, Sheridan “Bob” M. Reed; her children, Debra Gray and her husband Steve; Suanne Gubanyar and her husband William; Curtis Reed and his wife Lisa; and Scott Reed and his wife Stephanie; her grandchildren, Seth Gray, Aaron Gray, Natalie Gray, Michelle Gray, Thi Trinetti, Justen Blair, Andrew Reed, Alex Reed, and Kara Reed; and her four great-grandchildren.
Janet’s life was defined by love, curiosity, generosity, and service. She believed in making room for others, continuing to learn, and caring deeply for those around her. Her presence made life richer for all who knew her.
“She could do anything.”
And she did—with grace, strength, and a generous heart.

My heartfelt condolences. I carry such warm, vivid memories of growing up alongside Janet, Deb, and the entire Reed family.
