Dorothy Louise Bowles, 102, passed away peacefully under Hospice Care and family vigil at West View Healthy Living on August 21, 2026. Dorothy was a resident of the City of Brecksville for sixty- nine years before moving to Wooster, Ohio to be with her family in 2024. Dorothy was born to Charles Kelly and Emma Kelly (Bennet) on June 28, 1924 in Cleveland, Ohio. Preceding her in death were her husband Thomas, sister Gladys, brother Charles and Great Grandson Cooper.

Dorothy graduated from Collinwood High School in 1942. While at Collinwood she met the love of her life Thomas H. Bowles. The two were married in 1946 upon his return from of World War II.

Dorothy excelled in a business focused curriculum at Collinwood High School and upon graduation worked in the accounting departments at multiple companies including Standard Tool and the White Motor Company. At the White Motor Company, she was promoted from the Accounting Department to the person in charge of the Insurance Department.

After leaving White Motors Dorothy and her brother (Charles Kelly) started a Real Estate business in Maple Heights, Ohio providing real estate services to a booming post-World War Il period.

Dorothy and her husband, Thomas (Tom) Bowles, were married on June 1, 1946. They lived in Cleveland and Maple Heights, Ohio before settling down in Brecksville, Ohio where they raised two children, Janine and Eric.

Over the years Dorothy and Tom enjoyed gardening, biking and hiking in the Brecksville Reservation & Cuyahoga Valley National Park. They also enjoyed volunteering at the Cuyahoga Soil and Water Conservation District as Earth Team Volunteers, and helping their daughter with many March of Dimes fundraisers as well as traveling around the United States. In later years, Dorothy was involved in television commercials, training videos, and print work.

Surviving are her daughter Janine Sarnowski (Conrad), son Eric Bowles (Anne). At her passing she is survived by nine out of fourteen nieces and nephews, two grandchildren (Kelle, Brion) three great grandchildren and three great-great- grandchildren. Dorothy was loved by many friends both old and new.

Arrangements are being made by McIntire Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster Ohio. Visitation and memorial services will be at the Brecksville United Methodist Church located at 65 Public Square, Brecksville, Ohio on Thursday, September 3, 2026 at 10 a.m.
