“Together Again”

Jean L. Merreot of Creston went to her heavenly home on Tuesday, September 22, 2026.

Jean was born to Walter and Nevada Moser.

She married Paul Merreot December 7, 1951 at Orrville Christian Missionary Alliance Church.

Jean graduated from Smithville High School in 1950, enjoying all class get togethers through the years. During high school she worked at The Smithville Inn. Her dedication to hard work continued throughout her life until she retired from Edward Jones at the age of 86. As the first born in a large family, her siblings and family were always a priority. Planning “The Brothers & Sisters” pancake breakfast was a big and happy event. Jean was active in all the churches she attended, happily filling in wherever needed. Paul & Jean regularly visited shut-ins, sharing the message they were not alone.

Survivors include daughters and spouses Renee (Gary), Denise (Kurtis); grandchildren Lisa (Mario), Matthew, Nicole (Tim), Katie (Monte), Cameron, Dustin; seven great-grandchildren; brothers Harold (Elsie), Robert (Edith); sisters Martha, Helen and JoAnne and a sister-in-law Mona.

She was predeceased by her husband Paul, parents Walter & Nevada, brother Don, sister Sue, son-in-law Rick Canterbury, and brothers-in-law Bob, Don, Larry and Joe.

Private services will be held.  Interment will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Orrville, Ohio

  1. I only knew Jean from crossroads in Creston for the past few years. I was so impressed with her strong spirit and humble attitude towards life even when faced with the loss of Paul and her own battle with cancer. She praised the Lord through every obstacle in her life. Never complaining, always thankful for God’s blessings. She was a hugh inspiration for me. She will be missed I pray God’s comfort for all of her family!
