TENNESSEE – Helen Louise Buss of Rockvale, TN, formerly of Wooster, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2014.
She was born August 5, 1914 in Wapakoneta, OH to Gertrude and Harley Pfaff.   The family moved to Wooster in 1926 and Helen attended Wooster High School and the College of Wooster graduating with a degree in Music.   After college, she studied in New York City at the Julliard School of Music.   She worked as a soloist for various churches in Wooster and taught in several Wayne County school systems.   Mrs. Buss worked at Triway Local Schools for 14 years.   She also was the Choir Director at the Trinity United Church of Christ for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger E. Buss, in 1966, parents, and her brother, Bernard Pfaff.
She is survived by her children, Julianne Squier (James, deceased) of Fairfax, VA, Dr. Kay Grothaus (Ronald), of Camden, MI, Dr. David Buss (Marcia) of Oakton, VA, and Mary Jo Cherney (Richard) of Rockvale, TN. Her grandchildren are John and Jeanne Squier, Matthew, Roger and  Laura Grothaus, Alexandra Adams and Francesca Buss, Lauren and Rachel Csonka.   She also has 5 great grandchildren.
The family will receive guests at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Wooster, OH from 12 “ 2 p.m. January 16, 2014 with funeral services to follow at the church.   Graveside services will be held at Wooster Cemetery immediately following the services
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
The family requests donations to the College of Wooster Alumni Fund in lieu of flowers.
