WOOSTER ? Daniel Kenneth Sweeney, 85, of Wooster, entered into eternal rest late Saturday, July 10, after a long illness.
Born on January 22, 1925, he married Veda Yvonne DeWeese on October 25, 1969. Preceding him in death Dan will now be reunited again with his loving wife who he has longed for since December 17, 1992, his parents, aunt and infant great-granddaughter.
A decorated World War II Air Force Veteran, over the years Dan worked in the oil fields and auto industry, was a flight instructor, and in his retirement years enjoyed delivering flowers for Green Thumb Floral. Dan loved spending time with his granddaughter and helping others, traveling, hiking, golfing and flying, and in his later years enjoyed shooting pool with his buddies at the Wooster Community Center.
Surviving are granddaughter Jody (Bryon) Ritchie and great-grandchild Lillian Marie Ritchie (of Wooster), daughter Diane (Don) Miller (of Wooster), son David (Pat) Butler (of Tennessee), 5 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Lula (Bill) Columbo (Wooster) and brother-in-law Virge DeWeese (Shreve).
There will be no calling hours. Burial will be Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Wooster Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family suggests making a memorial contribution to the Alzheimer?s Association, 1815 W. Market St., Ste 301, Akron, OH 44313 or your favorite charity. McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.
