WOOSTER Andrew W. Mathis, 72, of Wooster passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020 at Smithville Western Care Center.
He was born October 14, 1947 in Wooster the son of Carl and Elizabeth Howard Mathis. He married Christina Spitler on May 10, 1986. She survives.
He was a graduate of Wooster High School and Ohio Northern University and had been employed by Maurer Pharmacy. Andy enjoyed golfing and attending his kids sporting events.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Christina are his children Erik (Lauren) Mathis of Strongsville and Bryce Mathis of Kent, Washington and a brother Fred (Sandy) Mathis of Wooster.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no calling hours and private graveside services will be held at the Wooster Cemetery.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

Andy and I were neighbors growing up, went to Grant St. Elementary, played Little League ball together, and also played a few round of golf with him(dont believe I ever beat him). RIP my friend!!!
I was vey sorry to learn of Andy’s passing and my condolences to the entire family. Andy and I were classmates at ONU and Kappa Psi brothers.

My dear cousin Andy. You are such a big part of my growing up in Wooster. So many memories! You may even have influenced me in my music career, Andy, as I remember, vividly, one afternoon in your bedroom you put a 45 on your turntable. It was “You Aint Nothin’ But a Hound Dog” by the King….Elvis. Thank you for that. So many memories Andy, that you live on through all of your family and friends. We send you our love.
