WOOSTER – Arthur F WIRT, 94, of Wooster passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009 in West View Manor Nursing Home.
He was born April 17, 1914 in Smithville the son of Grover A and Maude M Lowe Wirt.
He retired as Composing Room Foreman after 50 years of newspaper service. Was a member of the Oak Chapel United Methodist Church. Arthur enjoyed golf and gardening and had traveled to 48 states, Mexico and Canada. He was a member of Mt. Zion Lodge F & AM in Mt. Vernon and the Valley College Grange. He had lived 29 years in Mt. Vernon and 13 years in Lorain before moving back to Wooster 15 years ago.
Surviving are sons, David (Andrea) Wirt of Findlay and Edwin T Wirt of Wooster; grandchildren, Mark, Krista Staley, John, Shayna, Dale, Russell, Carri, and Bryan; 8 great-grandchildren.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, J. Maxine Parcell Wirt, to whom he was married on April 27, 1935 in Wooster, a sister, Mildred (Wilson) Franks and a brother, Leonard (Martha Ramsyer) Wirt and an infant brother, Forrest.
Friends will be received at the at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Saturday 2 hours prior to the 2:00 P.M. service with the Rev. Paul Farren officiating. Interment will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.
