WOOSTER – Barbara Rose (Wilson) Barnes, 58, passed away Sunday, February 22, 2009 at her home surrounded by family and friends after a long illness.
She was born July 12, 1950 to Harry Thomas and Barbara Etta (Smith) Wilson in Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated from Wooster High School in 1969 and married Gerald Richard Barnes on May 23, 1970.
She worked at Lightning Rod Mutual Insurance Company for 9 years. She then found her calling as the school secretary at Wooster Township Elementary (Triway Local Schools) and has worked there for the past 22 years. She was an active member of the social committee and loved to plan the teachers’ retirement parties. She also volunteered with Market Day.
She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church for over 41 years and most recently attended St. Paul Lutheran in Smithville. She enjoyed her Tuesday night bowling league for many years. She loved to golf with her daughter and friends. She also enjoyed her time spent riding on their Harley-Davidson Motorcytcle with dear friends Jane and Larry.
She was an associate member of the Harley Owners Group and the Mid Ohio HOG Club in Mansfield. She also enjoyed breakfast outings on Fridays with the staff from Wooster Twp. She was a member of the L.C. Boles Womens Tuesday Evening Golf League.
Surviving are her husband, Jerry; daughter Stacy (Dan) Peters of Sarasota, Florida; two grand dogs Bentley and Austin; brother Donald (LouAnn) Wilson of Greensburg, PA; brother Harry Thomas Wilson, Jr. of Delaware, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
Friends may call Wednesday evening from 5- 8:00 P.M. at the Church of the Saviour, 480 Fry Road, Wooster, OH 44691.
Services will be held Thursday, February 26, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the church with the Rev. Wayne Giesler officiating. Burial will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family with arrangements.
