Barney “Tom” King, 75, of Wooster passed away on Thursday, February 25, 2021, surrounded by his family at Wooster Community Hospital after a brief illness.

He was born October 6, 1945 in Wooster, the son of Herb and Maxine Schuch King. On August 20, 1993 he married Rita Iceman King. She survives.

Tom served his country proudly with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a Rifle Marksman who earned the National Defense Service Medal and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal during his years of service.

Tom was a truck driver for Wooster Motorways for many years. He retired from International Paper in 2011. He was a collector of things, and enjoyed going to auctions and flea markets. Tom loved spending time fishing and on the water in his boat. He loved sunshine, sweet tea and telling stories. He loved dogs…especially his most recent baby, Sheba.

In addition to his wife, Tom is survived by his children Kathy (Ralph) Camacho of Apple Creek, Eric (Tifany) Giauque of Wooster, and Adam (Julia) Speelman of Alexandria, KY; grandchildren Manny and Mateo Camacho, Chandler, Madison and Gavin Giauque, and Blakelee and Olivia Speelman; and siblings Lela (Walt) Knepp, Ida (Bob) Starn, Harry (Bonnie) King, and Fred (Karen) King.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.

My sincere condolences to Tom's family. I went to school with Tom, but unfortunately lost contact with him thereafter. He was a quiet and kind person whom I always enjoyed. Rest in peace my friend.
