Betty J. (Liz) Tyree was born February 25, 1929 and died Friday, January 28, 2022.
She was a life resident of Summit County, and a resident of Cuyahoga Falls since 1952. Liz was a graduate of West High School and the University of Akron where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. Liz was a secretary at Ohio Edison and managed the Santa Claus photo operation at Chapel Hill Mall for 20 years. Her memberships included F.O.E. Auxiliary #2207 Cuyahoga Falls, VFW #1062 Cuyahoga Falls, Women of the Moose Chapter #852 in Mogadore, and the OCWMA. She attended Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cuyahoga Falls, and also was a volunteer at E.J. Thomas Hall in Akron.
Liz is survived by her daughters Nancy (Charles) Zende of Simpsonville, S.C., Linda (Dennis) Hendricks of Simpsonville, S.C., and son Thomas (Brenda) Tyree of Wooster, OH; 7 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, James L. Tyree; a brother Donald Ware; her sister Amy Brickels; and her parents Harold and Beulah Ware.
There are no calling hours. Private family services will be held at a later date at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.

  1. Liz was our neighbor for many years and joined us for many of our family gatherings, especially after her husband Jim died. She was an interesting lady.
