WOOSTER – Billy Nesbit Williams, 90, of Wooster passed away at his home February 26, 2008.
He was born on March 23, 1917 in Lawrenceville Georgia to Frank Y. and Maude Hamrick Williams. He married Ruth Mahaffey on January 21, 1945, who preceded him in death in 2006.
He served his country in the Merchant Marines during WWII, moving to Wooster in 1948. He owned and operated Williams Texaco at Williams Point and Williams Automotive Service on E. Liberty Street until his retirement in 1986.
An avid antique car enthusiast, he purchased his first Model T Ford in 1966, becoming a lifetime member of the Greater Akron Model T Ford Club. A self educated naturalist, he was also a lifetime member of the Isaac Walton League.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by sisters: Mary Ellen Willams, and Rachel Louise Smith; and brothers Wallace and Forrest Williams, as well as his parents.
He is survived by his brother Donald Williams of Lawrenceville, GA; Daughters: Elizabeth Betsy Sheets of Wooster, Melissa Williams and her husband Roy Stamy of Virginia. Grandchildren: Greg Sheets, Joshua Sheets, and Margaret Maggie Spencer Sheets all of Wooster.
A memorial service will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday March 5, 2008 at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home with Rev. V. Elaine Strawn and Rev. Dwight Hayes officiating. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
