WOOSTER – Bonny Bee MURPHY, 83, of Wooster went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, December 17, 2009 at Akron City Hospital.
He was born December 18, 1925 in Maysel, WV, son of French and Ida Gay Graham Murphy. He married Evelyn Friend on May 24, 1947. She died September 15, 2000. He then married Orleana Flenner on September 17, 2004. She survives.
He retired from Regal Ware as a millwright where he had served as Union President and Steward for many years. He had been a deacon at the former Westwood Baptist Church for 45 years, was a dedicated church member and family man. Bonny was responsible for starting the food bank at Westwood and operating it for over 20 years. He was always willing to help others. and was an avid gardner who loved working in his yard. Served his country in the U.S. Army from 1944 to 1946 in Rhineland and Central Europe.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children, Peggy Green of Wooster, Rosemary (Tab) Tettleton of Spring, TX and Donny Murphy of Wooster, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, brothers, Dallas Murphy of Wooster, Delbert Murphy of WV and Ray Murphy of Painesville, sisters, Edith Booth of Akron and Becky (John) Summers of Perry.
Bonny was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Tiffany and 7 brothers & sisters Lewis Columbus, Maggie Mae, Lou James, Cecil Earl, Olive Emogean, Mable Arlean and Roy Clyde.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster on Monday, December 21, 2009 from 5-8:00 P.M.
Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Guy Morton officiating. Interment will follow in the Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
