Campbell Amos Neptune, Jr., 97, of Wooster, passed away peacefully October 1, 2019, at his residence under the care of Home Instead Senior Care and Comfort Keepers.
He was born August 19, 1922, in Parkersburg, WV, one of three children of the late Campbell Amos and Sue (Alleman) Neptune.
Amos graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1940. He attended the University of Cincinnati to study Aeronautical Engineering, but entered the Navy with the outbreak of WWII. From 1943 “1946 he distinguished himself designing aircraft and working on top secret projects stateside achieving the rank of Lieutenant J.G. He resumed his studies at Cincinnati and received a BS in Mechanical Engineering in 1947.  
That summer, Amos met the love of his life, Ohio Wesleyan grad Sarah œSally  Ann Stevenson while both of their families were vacationing at Lakeside, Ohio. They were married in Norwalk, Ohio, on June 19, 1948. They were married 37 years and had five children together.
Amos worked for Curtis Wright in Dayton, the Shelby Spring Hinge Co. in Shelby, and for Rubbermaid, Inc., from 1961 to 1987 where he retired as Executive Vice President of Corporate Development.
Over the years, Amos served Wooster and the communities in which he lived in a number of ways. He is a past president of the Wooster Country Club, being instrumental in the expansion of the golf course. Amos was also a former board member of the Salvation Army helping it to acquire and build its current facility.   He was a volunteer of Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE), Meals on Wheels, Rotary Club, and Person to Person driving people to doctor appointments.   He is a past member of the Shelby, Ohio, City Council.
Amos wanted to be known as a Christian and faithful follower of the Lord. He was always generous with his time, talents, and treasure and supported a number of ministries and individuals over the years. In his 58 years as a Wooster resident, Amos was active in five different area churches. For recreation he enjoyed golfing and, as a boy and in retirement, making and flying radio control model airplanes.
Amos will be greatly missed and is survived by his children: Sue (Bill) Fry, Steve (Sylvia) Neptune, Tom (Adelia) Neptune, Jane (Greg) Moore, Nancy (Kerry) Davis; grandchildren Haydee Everly, Cecilia (John) Dwyer, Clinton (Sara) Neptune, Ian (Nikki) Neptune, Joshua (Joy) Neptune, Thomas (Allison) Neptune, Stephanie (Jonathan) Middleton, Stephen (Ruth) Moore, Jessica (Chris) Gatton, Jonathan Davis, Jennifer Davis; and sixteen great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Amos was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sally and his sisters Virginia Lee Neptune and Frances LeMaster.
Friends will be received on Sunday, October 13, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m at the Mcintire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2019 at the McIntire, Bradham, & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with his son Pastor Steve Neptune officiating.  Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
