Carl Richard Bowers passed away Monday, March 29, 2021.
He was born June 18, 1931 in Orrville to Forest and Bertha Bowers.
He graduated from Kent State University in 1954 and began a career at Peat Marwick Mitchell (now KPMG) moving to Wooster in 1959 to work at Rubbermaid Inc as manager of Accounting, retiring 33 years later as Corporate Vice-President and Corporate Controller.   His love of travel took him to all fifty states and seven continents (including Antarctica) and he especially enjoyed attending the theater in London and New York.   While at home, he treasured time with his six Great Danes.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Lucille; daughter Lue Ann (Michael) Schwing; daughter-in-law Donna Bowers; grandchildren Theda, Alan, Terry, Robert, Ryan; and five great-grandchildren
Carl was preceded in death by his son John and sister and brother-in-law Theda and Carl Moomaw.
Private family services will be held with Rev. Dr. Kevan Franklin officiating.   Burial will be in Wooster Cemetery.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

  1. Dear Lucille and family, please accept our deepest sympathy during this difficult time. Luke and I have so many fond memories of Carl. Luke always looked upon Carl as not only his boss but a very close friend and one he so enjoyed spending time with. We both will always treasure the times the guys would invite the wives to join them for an evening out for dinner. Please know we both have all of you in our prayers and are blessed to have had Carl in our life. RIP our dear friend.

  3. We are deeply saddened by Carl’s passing. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was generous with his time and was very giving. He truly was interested in making a difference in the lives of people. If he saw a need, he wanted to help. His qualities were pure and his intentions were good. We are proud to have known him and honored to call him friend.

  6. Lucille, I Bless you and your family. My heart goes out to all of you. Carl and you were of my friends and family. Carl was my mentor , friend ,and family. He did so much for me and others, he truly was a friends friend. I have great sorrow for you and family. God Bless you all. I will see you in a couple of weeks.
