WOOSTER – Charles Edward MACKEY, 69, of Wooster, died Wednesday, August 20, 2008 in Akron City Hospital.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill Street, Wooster, OH, 2 hours prior to the 7:00 P.M. Service on Monday with David Kinkle and Robert Picklesimer officiating. Burial will be at the convience of the family.
Those who wish may make contributions to the funeral home to help defray expenses.
Born March 1, 1939 in Millersburg, OH, he was the son of Perry A. and Eva Bucklew Mackey.
He worked for BASF for 43 years working in the shipping and shading depts. Served his country with the U.S. Army.
Charles was a member of the Wayne Co. Saddle Club since 1956 and was made a life member, a member of the Valley College Grange and was a 4-H advisor for 24 years. Past member of the Massillon Saddle Club and the Ashland Paint and Plain Saddle Club. He loved horses and loved helping people. He was a quiet man with a very big heart.
Surviving are his wife, Bobbi Jo Anderson Mackey, whom he married June 7, 1984; his children Ed (Wendy Fees) Mackey of Grafton, Scott (Malina) Stephens of West Salem, Bill Mackey of Millersburg, Rodney Stephens of Wooster, Stefanie Stephens of Wooster, Bob (Victoria) Mackey of Millersburg and Shannon (Dan) Mowery of Wooster; grandchildren Cody Mackey and Cheyanne Mackey of Millersburg, Keith Stephens of Wooster, Destany Stephens of Pennsylvania and Charles Mowery of Wooster; brothers, Jim Mackey of Smithville and Vernon Mackey of Florida, sister, Geneva (Don) Anderson of Wooster.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Daniel Mackey.
