AKRON – David H JOHNSON, 80, of Akron, OH, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in Akron General Medical Center.
He was born December 28, 1929 in Ashland, the son of Guy A and Edith Hall Johnson.
He attended Ashland University and lived in Albuquerque, NM for several years and later moved to Akron where he worked at Reiter Dairy retiring after 20 years of service.
Dave enjoyed all sports, playing baseball and football and excelling at basketball. His junior year at Wooster High School he led the Generals and was named all league center. His senior year at Congress High School (1948) he was the leading scorer in the Wayne County Athletic League. He was an enthusiastic fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes.
He is survived by a daughter, Kathryn Louise Johnson and a son, John Michael Johnson III both of Akron; grandson, Paul David (Rhiannon) Johnson and great-grandsons, Allan and Nicholas Johnson of Akron; brothers, John (Kathy) Johnson of Akron, James (Maxine) Johnson of Polk, Arthur (Penny) Johnson of FL, Timothy (Jacque) Johnson of VA, and George (Evelyn) Johnson of Wooster and a sister Jane (George) Peters of Wooster; a cousin, Bruce (Bonnie) Johnson of Wooster and many nieces and nephews. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and brother and will be deeply missed.
Beginning at 12:30 P.M., friends may call for one hour prior to the 1:30 P.M. service on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor George Johnson officiating. Burial will be in the Wooster Cemetery.
