Deborah Nanelle Nan Wakefield, 56, of Wooster, OH, won her 4 year battle with cancer on June 28, 2009 and went home to heaven to wait on the arrival of her loving family. Her first mission in life was to serve her Lord and then to love and support her family. She did both of these with all her heart.
She was born February 18, 1953 in Zanesville, OH, daughter of the late Wayne and Marjorie (Montieth) Fitz.
Nan worked as an English teacher at Northwestern High School and later as an Office Manager for Dan Wakefield State Farm Insurance for the 17 years.
She was a member of Church of the Saviour where she led a Women’s Bible Study.
She will be so deeply missed by her husband, Dan Wakefield of Wooster whom she married August 4, 1973; children Vince (Sara) Wakefield, Lindsey (Tadd) Sponseller both of Wooster, Briana (Charles) Weirick of Millersburg and Alex (Audree) Wakefield of Bloomington IL; grandchildren Olivia, Jacob and Lillian Wakefield Danny and Deborah Sponseller; siblings Wayne Fitz of Columbus, Waynette Bridwell of Zanesville, Pearlene Delph of Columbus, Tammy Arling of Scranton, PA, Jane Potts of Columbus and Valerie Whitaker of Cumberland Gap, TN.
Services will be held at Church of the Saviour on Thursday July 2 at 11:00 am with the Revs. Jerry and Brent Durham and Rev. Steve Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the Wooster Cemetery
Friends will be received at Church of the Saviour on Wednesday July 1 from 5:30-8:30pm.
