WOOSTER – Dennis "Denny" Roy Smith, 70, of Wooster passed away on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Ohio’s Hospice LifeCare.

He was born August 26, 1949 in Wooster, the son of Keith and June (Smith) Smith.  He married Phyllis K. Rutter on March 2, 1968.  She survives.

Dennis was a mechanic.  He had proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War earning the Bronze Star.

He was loyal and honest to a fault and an avid fan of The Steeler’s.

In addition to his wife, Phyllis, he is survived by a daughter, Dena Smith of Radnor, Ohio; a grandson Pierce Smith and a brother Douglas (Deb) Smith of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Dirk Smith and a sister, Pamela Smith-Maxwell.

There will be no calling hours or services.

McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster is assisting the family.

My heart goes out to all of you. Especially Phyllis I know she will miss him terribly and Deana. I always enjoy seeing Denny Christmas Even though he hasn't tended the last two years he was a man when she met him you would never forget. I remember when Phyllis and he were dating and they made such a nice looking couple may he rest in peace. Condolences to the family. I will always have fond memories of him.
