SUNBURY “ Donald E. Daugherty, 87, of Sunbury and formerly of Wooster passed away on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital in Columbus.
He was born September 11, 1933 in Holgate, Ohio the son of Harley and Irene Greenwald Daugherty.   He married Bettie Brown on December 20, 1953.   She preceded him in death on March 7, 2014.
He had been the manager of multiple Ramada Inn Hotels.   Donald was a member of the Central Christian Church and the Wooster Elks.   He proudly served his country with the U.S. Marines from 1953 to 1956.   He was an outstanding high school athlete who went on to become an avid softball player.
Surviving are his children Gary Donn (Pat) Daugherty of Sheboygan, WI, Ronald Bruce (Denise) Daugherty of Taunton, MA and Kimberly (Jay) Junk of Sunbury; 4 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-grandchild; a sister Marjean (Michael) Carney and a brother Thomas A. Daugherty both of Wooster.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded by his parents and a brother Raymond J. Daugherty.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday, April 26 at 11:00 AM at the Central Christian Church, 407 N. Market St., Wooster.   The family will greet friends following the service.   Private graveside services will be in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Seville.
Masks are required and social distancing will be observed.
