WOOSTER – Donald L. Wagner, 88, of Wooster passed away Saturday, November 5, 2016 at LifeCare Hospice following a fall at his home.
Memorial services to celebrate and remember his life will be Friday, November 11 at 12:00 noon at Trinity United Church of Christ, 150 E. North Street, Wooster, with the Rev. Dr. Kevan Franklin officiating.   His family will receive guests two hours prior to the services.   Private family burial at Sherwood Memorial Gardens took place earlier with military honors provided by the 555th Honors Detachment from Wooster.
McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill Street, Wooster, assisted the family.   Online condolences may be left for the family at www.mcintirebradhamsleek.com.
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may make contributions in Don’s memory to LifeCare Hospice, 1900 Akron Road, Wooster 44691; or, Trinity United Church of Christ, 150 E. North Street, Wooster 44691.
Don was born November 13, 1927 in Holmes County to Harry F. and Nettie (Cameron) Wagner, the second of four boys; Robert, Harold, and Wayne Wagner.     He married Lois Conrad on December 4, 1954.   She survives.
He was a 1945 graduate of Wooster High School and farmed the family farm until inducted into the U.S. Army with the 3rd Armored Division stationed in Fort Knox, KY and Germany.   While serving his country in Germany he and Lois formed life-long friendships with their Army family.   They recently returned from the 60th Reunion for his division, an annual event he enjoyed.
Following his return from the service he worked for and retired from Smith Dairy after a 32 year career as a home delivery driver.   Following retirement he created many years of memories with his family and friends.   He showed his steadfast love for his family through his integrity, patience, wisdom, and strength.   He traveled, read extensively, enjoyed music, and loved the outdoors.   He was a collector and enjoyed attending auctions.   He had a strong faith and spent much of his time helping others, caring for his family and was keeper of his land.
In addition to his wife, Don will be deeply missed by Kathi (George) Horlacher of Mount Vernon and their children; Sarah, Travis and Meghan; Brad (Kia) Wagner of Orrville and his daughter, Samantha of New York; his brother Wayne (Jan) Wagner of Wooster, sister-in-laws Dorothy Hahn of Orrville, Donna Shafer of Panama City, Florida, and Dolores Wagner of Wooster, and their families.       Kathi and George’s grandsons, Greyson, Blake and Arden also share the loss as do Don’s many close friends and extended family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Robert and Harold, his parents-in-law John and Margaret Conrad, and his brothers-in law, Robert Hahn and Dale Shafer and his nephew Hal Shafer.
The family wishes to express its heartfelt appreciation to LifeCare Hospice and their staff for the compassion and excellent care during his brief stay.
