Dr. Reuben Franklin Stevens died on August 5th, 2020 at LifeCare Hospice in Wooster, Ohio. He was born on October 16, 1933 in Paw Paw, Michigan where his father, the Rev. Joseph Reuben Stevens, was pastor of a small Baptist Church. After his father s passing, he and his mother, Gertrude, moved to Sparta, Michigan. It was in Sparta that he met his bride of 64 years, Delores Eileen Thorson. Early in their marriage the couple lived in Würzburg, Germany while Frank was serving in the Army at the 10th Field Hospital. Their family was started in Germany with the birth of daughter, Terry. Returning to the states, they settled in Wooster where Frank joined his brother s Chiropractic practice. Their son, Scott, was born in Wooster in 1961, completing their family. Frank pursued his own practice in Wooster and Millersburg, retiring in 1998.
Frank was an active member in the Wooster community for 55 years, serving as president of the Jaycees and participating as a member of the Rotary Club. He was a member of Central Christian Church since 1958 and was given the distinction of Elder Emeritus. After his retirement, Frank was a volunteer with LifeCare Hospice and served on the board of directors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed a post retirement hobby of carving and painting birds of all kinds.
Left to honor and remember his love are his children, Terry Stevens and husband Bob Salvati of New Jersey, Scott and wife Brenda (Sutton) Stevens of Michigan; grandchildren, Katy Salvati of New Jersey, Jake and Tori (Stevens) Powers, and Taylor Stevens of Michigan.
Dr. Stevens was proceeded in death by his wife Delores E. Stevens, parents Gertrude Phillips Stevens Coleman and Reverend Joseph Stevens, and brother Dr. Thomas Stevens.

To all of Doc’s family my sincerest sympathies. I loved all my visits with him and miss stopping in and talking with Delores and have a drink with Doc. He was such a story teller. I admired all of his carvings. He is missed greatly beyond your family unit. He made an impressions on was a part of so many lives…including mine. Rest in peace in God’s Hands, my friend! You will always be in my heart.
This is a wonderful picture of Uncle Frank that captures his cheerful spirit and positivity. We so enjoyed visiting with him and Aunt Dee every chance we could over all these years and were honored to be able to visit him and you at the hospice house. Our family has so many good memories of getting together and being invited over on every July 4th. We loved him and will miss him so much until we meet again in heaven. Our condolences to you and your families.

I was on the Hospice Board with Reuben. We always tried to sit next to each other. I so enjoyed him and we always seemed to vote the same on Hospice issues. I purchased one of his bird carvings at one of the Hospice fund raisers. It was a cardinal on a birch branch. The cardinal was my mother’s favorite bird, and she also loved birch trees and had many in her yard. So I fell in love with his carving because it reminded me of my Mom. I got the sweetest thank you note from Reuben a week later thanking me for buying his carving! So sweet. A year later, I went to Reuben and Delores’s house to pick up a blue bird carving I asked Reuben to do for me. He gave me a tour of his house and showed me all his amazing carvings and told me the story behind them. He was quite a guy, and such a sweet man. My sympathies to you all. I know you will miss him so much.
