WOOSTER – Edwin Bruce Ted EVANS, 87 of Wooster, died Sunday, May 4, 2008 in West View Manor Nursing Home.
Following cremation, a private family service will be held. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, August 9, 2008 at 4:00 P.M. at the Wooster United Methodist Church.
The family wishes to express it’s thanks and grateful appreciation to the staff and volunteers of Westview Manor for their compassion and care for Ted during the past 4 years.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Wooster United Methodist Church 243 N. Market St. Wooster, 44691 or to the Village Network P.O. Box 518 Smithville, Oh., 44677
Born May 11, 1920 in Canton, OH, he was the son of Rhys Dafydd and Mary Chappelear Evans.
He worked as a General Manager for Dix Co. Broadcasting Group and Associate Publisher for the Ashland and Cordelle Ga. Papers.
Served with the Air Force during WWII.as a staff Sgt. Member of the Wooster United Methodist Church, Rotary Club of Wooster, had served on the Board of Boys Village, the Alumni Board at Ohio University, on the Bank One Board and had served on church boards and sang in the choir for 50 years. Member of Phi Mu Alpha Music Fraternity and Delta Tau Delta.
Surviving are his wife Marjorie G. Carlson Evans; Daughters, Rebecca Margaret Vlisides, of Saline, Mi., Priscilla Juliane (Mark) Hoffman of Chagrin Falls and Mary Annette (Frederick) Reber of Mooresville, NC; 6 Grandchildren Erin (Jeff) Cebulski, Evans (Joelle) Boeve, Kurtis and Russell Hoffman, Abigail and Mary Reber and a great-granddaughter Lydia Rose Cebulski.; Nephews D. William & Josephine Evans of Wooster, David Evans of Toledo, and a neice Diane L. Crawford-Evans, of Savanah, Ga.
He was preceded in death by brothers Robert B. and D. William Sr.
McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home , Wooster,Oh, is handling arrangments.
