WOOSTER – Esther Ruth CARNAHAN, 98, of Wooster passed away Thursday, October 29, 2009 in West View Manor Nursing Home.
She was born February 23, 1911 in Warren, daughter of Frank C. and Eva Agnes Manthy Schellin. She married Merl Carnahan on September 22, 1931. He died in 1981.
She had run a child care service in Wooster for 15 years and had worked in a nursing home in Ft. Myers, FL for 11 years returning to Wooster in 1986 after 25 years in Ft. Myers. She was a member of the First Church of God on Akron Road.
Surviving are son, Roger Glenn (Rebecca) Carnahan of Spring, TX and a daughter Beverly Lanning of Wooster; grandchildren, Gregory Carnahan, Beth Carnahan Cave, Kathryn Carnahan Dodgen and Debra Carnahan Stoner all of Spring, Texas, 9 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson.
In addition to her husband of 50 years, Esther was preceded in death by parents, a grandson, brothers, Eugene, Frank and Ed Schellin and sisters, Edith Kline, Ethel Richwine and Eva Coblentz. She was the last of her family.
Friends will be received at the McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster one hour prior to the 11:00 A.M. service on Tuesday, November 3, 2009 with the Rev. Kenneth Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Wooster Cemetery.
