Ethel Arlene Shankland, 103 of Wooster died on Sunday, December 19, 2021 at the Wayne County Care Center.
She was born November 19, 1918 in Wayne County to Warren and Helen Coddington Messner.   On April 12, 1951, she married Orrin D. Shankland.   He preceded her in death in 1984.
She was a member of Parkview Christian Church and had worked in the quality control department at Frito Lay.   Ethel loved her job at Frito Lay and the many friends that she made there.   She also loved her dogs.
Ethel is survived by nieces Bonnie Heller and Marni Jankowski; nephew Gary Messner along with many other nieces and nephews.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and siblings Forest Messner, Dorothy Odenkirk, Irvin Messner, Evelyn Fry and Clarabelle Musselman.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 27, 2021 at 11:00 AM at McIntire, Bradham & Sleek Funeral Home, 216 E. Larwill St., Wooster with Pastor Dan Wingate officiating.   Interment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens.
Friends will be received one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank all of the caregivers and friends at the Wayne County Care Center for keeping Ethel happy and engaged in her final years.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Wayne Co. Dog Shelter, 5694 Burbank Road, Wooster, OH 44691.
