Faith Elnora Ogden Houston, 103, of New Pittsburg, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 14, 2021.
She was born August 4, 1917, at her home near New Pittsburg to Howard and May (Becker) Ogden. She married Robert D. Houston of West Salem, Ohio, on October 7, 1935. He preceded her in death on August 26, 2000.
Faith went through 8 grades of school in a one-room schoolhouse, with one teacher (who was her mother). She graduated from Chester School in 1935. Over the years she worked at Purdy ™s Restaurant, Elmist Turkey Farms where she worked at many fairs selling turkey sandwiches. Later, she worked at the Wooster Daily Record where she assembled papers in the mailroom for 20 years.
Faith always made going to church a priority for the family. God was first and foremost in her life. She attended the New Pittsburg Methodist Church where she taught the women ™s and men ™s Sunday school classes for nearly 45 years. She also taught student classes. She was in charge of, and taught, Vacation Bible School at Chester School for many years. Faith had also attended West Hill Baptist Church.
Her sons say that it is their mother ™s unwavering Faith that made her what she is. She led an active life, full of fun and adventure. She and her husband enjoyed boating, and they traveled throughout the United States in their motorhome.
Faith loved, and enjoyed doing things with, her family. She loved cooking and making meals, pies, and homemade noodles throughout the years and holidays. Faith loved playing with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially loved croquet.
Surviving are her sons Robert C. (Marilyn) Houston of Wooster and Allen L. (Judy) Houston of Mansfield; grandchildren Rob (Mari) Houston, Lori (Ken) Rudisell, Holly (David) Miller, Nathaniel Houston and Courtney Patterson; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Faith was preceded in death by her daughter Linda (at birth); her twin sister (at 5 months old); and siblings Erma Thomas, Pearl Feightner, Walter Ogden, and Ray Ogden.
The family wishes to thank West View Healthy Living, and staff, for their love and care of Faith where she resided for the past 7 and a half years. They would also like to thank Ohio ™s Hospice LifeCare, of Wooster, for their great support and care over the past 6 years. Thank you, as well, to our family and friends for your support, love, and prayers.
A Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.

  5. Mom was very fortunate to have Faith as a friend. The many phone calls, home visits, or going out to eat were greatly appreciated. Sometimes, mom felt that Faith’s driving skills were not what they should be but, they always made it home safely. She will be missed. Sorry for your loss.

  8. Allen and Bob, I spent alot of time in your home as a kid. I don,t ever remember your mother not having a smile on her face. And I never think she got angry with us, maybe when we shot the car. A great lady. Sorry for your loss.

  16. Dear Bob and Marilyn, So sorry to read of your mother’s passing. I missed it in the Daily Record but just caught it in the West Salem Messenger. Yes, We do still read the Daily Record. I guess that shows our age! I always loved the VBS at Chester School organized by all the township churches. Sincerely, Jean and Phil.
